Technical Difficulties

My sister and brother-in-law bought me my current breast pump as a shower gift back in May (which was the sweetest thing ever!).

Until Henry went into daycare I never really needed to use it all that often. So, I’d use it here and there when we were planning to go out, or when I wanted a few more drinks than was probably wise to have. And during those times it worked just fine.

Since using it 3 times a day at work (sometimes 4), I’ve been having a few problems with it. Every now and then the suction would just stop. The machine would make a wheezing sound, and generally within a few seconds it would start working again.

…And then today happened.

At 9:45 I hooked myself up, turned the machine on…and waited for the suction to start. And it never happened. Within the past week I’d changed out the parts that can wear out, and I inspected them today to make sure that they were doing fine, and they were. I sat hooked up to the pump for 30 minutes with the suction turned up to max, and I barely got enough to cover the bottom of the bottles.

It’s at this point that I start to freak out a little bit. J helps me calm down over gmail chat, and sends me the number for the Ameda customer support.

I call, and within 5 minutes of talking to the rep, I have a new motor being sent to me (should be here Monday, it would be here sooner if it wasn’t the weekend). They even told me that if I didn’t have backup that they would reimburse me for the cost of a manual or rental to get me through until the new pump came in.

While it sucks that my pump is on the fritz, at least the people over at Ameda/Evenflo are awesome, and will send you replacements free of charge.
